On the way to my favourite market stall in Binh Thanh district, to buy limes and passion fruit, I came past a new co-op shop and I went in to check out the quality of the produce. To my surprise I found a packet of these unusual looking creatures in the fridge section, for human consumption....
Amazing, I am not even sure what to say. I could not (yet) add this animal to my salad or stir fry-
Apparently they are edible insect larva "crispy silk worm". Seeing them in the shelf, trying to look absolutely normal, made me think that we will see a lot more of all this in the future-
I for now will stick to plant based pho recipes with fresh lime-
